Glorious! I stopped working and leafed through
the entire ”Movie Cameras” book as soon
as I saw it. An amazing work indeed, obviously
a labour of love – quite simply the most
comprehensive publication on cine cameras I‘ve
ever seen.
I am a designer and filmmaker by trade and can
honestly and enviously offer congratulations on
the typography, layout, design, attention to detail,
and quality of reproduction and illustration throughout.
Not only is this a valuable and interesting catalogue
of a fascinating technical subject; but your professional
and creative presentation opens it out beyond
the specialist arena into a study of a mechanical
design aesthetic that spans almost the whole of
the 20th Century!

It‘s a marvelous work being both interesting
to read and also an incredibly useful reference
guide. I am absorbing it from page to page. Congratulations
on a super publication.

I received your book ”Movie Cameras”,
it‘s wonderful! A very nice book. Congratulations!
It‘s the first complete book about the history
of movie cameras and it is the best one I know.
I will show this wonderful publication to my camera
collecting friends.
Shigeo Mizukawa,
former camera designer
at Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd., Japan
It is really a great book, just what we collectors
need. I look forward to inform and show the book
to my collector friends here in Denmark. And I
am sure they will place orders to you.

I received your book ”Movie Cameras&”
with greatest joyce: an excellent work, a BIBLE.
With my best congratulations!
Gilbert Bianchi, Menton, France
Your book looks beautiful and I am very impressed
by the result. Especially the chapter about the
Single-8 system appeals to me because I am collecting
these cameras. The information is very valuable
for my collection. Thank you very much.

Today I received your book ”Movie Cameras&”
and I must congratulate you on producing a truly
magnificent publication. The quality, illustrations,
historical and model information is even better
than I expected, and this is the book I have been
waiting for during some 50 years of being involved
with movie apparatus – both as an amateur
and professional. Without doubt this is going
to be THE book for all movie camera enthusiasts
worldwide for many years to come, and how you
got all the research and product information together
without taking a whole lifetime is really amazing.
I am also impressed with the full English text
in addition to the German – that‘s something
other German photo publishers could well follow
in their books on collectable cameras.
Regarding the books translation into English:
I think your associates have done a first class
job. Other than the odd word or term– which
usually has the same meaning – I doubt wether
any American or Britain would know that it wasn‘t
written in English in the first place.
I also think your book designer has done a wonderful
job, especially the very large illustrations with
the text flowing around them. What hits the reader
is the great amount of research that was needed.
I was amazed at how many movie camera companies
we had in Europe in the post-war years.
John E. Lewis, former Film Editor BBC, Norwich,
United Kingdom
The book is more a tribute to the German and
French mania for cataloguing everything in sight
in this ”information age&”. In this it
clearly seeks to supersede the earlier four volume
definitive catalogue produced by Pete Ariel of
Berlin and adopts his listing system. The quality
of printing, paper and illustration is sumptuous
and the book could not fail to intrigue anyone
hooked on cine cameras. Perhaps for $ 99.00
(£ 70) one is entitled to expect that
much.
